Publication Announcement: “Time and Again and Destiny Too”

Hello, Lovelies!

I hope everyone is keeping healthy and safe during these crazy times we live in. I’ve got a bit of an escape for anyone who needs to step away from reality. My story “Time and Again and Destiny Too” has just been published in the July 2020 issue of Hybrid Fiction! The best way to describe this story is Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets HBO’s Girls in which anthropomorphized Time, Destiny, History, and Death try to figure out what to do with themselves in a modern urban environment.

This story is quite near and dear to my heart. It began as a poem I wrote during my brief misadventure at college back in 2011, but I always wanted to revisit the characters and expand the world. It wasn’t until 2017, after attending my first Writing Excuses Retreat and learning more about writing and structuring short stories, that I felt confident enough to try taking the characters from the poem and writing a full story featuring them.

With the help of my excellent writing groups, my spouse, and my parents, I managed to refine the story over seven drafts until I felt confident enough to start submitting it. I submitted it fifteen times, receiving eight personalized rejections in the process before Hybrid Fiction finally accepted the story after requesting rewrites. I’m so excited to have finally found the perfect home for this story, and I can’t wait to hear what you all think.
