What Happened October?

I set myself a goal of writing six blog posts in October. Didn’t happen, but that’s okay because October was a pretty great month. I got to spend some quality time with my person before he went back to Australia to go back to work. We went on hikes, we went to the movies, we went apple picking, we went to an interactive murder mystery dinner theater performance. Fun stuff.

I’m not good at being easy on myself though, so it’s been a pleasant surprise to find that I’ve reached the point where I’m not beating myself up for failing to blog. This is new. Usually, I freak out about not doing everything I set out to do or about not executing my plans exactly the way I wanted to, but not right now.

It’s a pleasant change, to forgive myself, to allow myself not to do things because I’ve been doing other more important things like living my life and growing as a human being. There are still moments of guilt, but not the gut-twisting, sleep-ruing type. I hope I can keep this up.

Anyway, October was great. Maybe I’ll tell you more about it someday. Meanwhile, I’m going to be posting my thoughts on this year’s World Fantasy Convention in the next couple of days.

Thanks for reading.
