And That’s a Wrap

Well not quite a wrap. David, our sound engineer still has to do his thing, but we got everything recorded that we wanted to record over the course of seven hours split between two days. There may be one or two songs that we’ll record again, but for the most part we’re all very happy with what we’ve done.

Now it’s back to work and writing. The last two weeks I’ve been working on creating not just charts, but also a super detailed outline of my book that includes all the chapters that I’ve written, the chapters I still need to write, the chapters I’ve decided no longer play a part in the book, and those that need a little tweaking before I’ll be satisfied with them. It was an extremely long, arduous, but ultimately reward task that took six days and resulted in an outline that’s fifty pages long. Granted most of those pages are filled with notes I’ve written to myself in which I debate the merits of certain scenes, for example “I’m no longer sure how necessary this scene is, though I like it. It originally served to explain (spoilers). Since I wrote this scene other (spoilers) have been held. It is a good scene though. I’ll keep it for now.” There’s a lot of this in my outline, it’s terribly entertaining.

Now, I’m beginning my rewrite based off of this new outline. At the moment I’m focusing on inserting new scenes, which is fun. Writing new material, while difficult, is probably the most fun, especially new material from an entirely new point of view. I’ve been writing a scene from the point of view of a character who thus far I’ve only written from the outside. I’m now writing him from the inside and I’ve grown to love him even more than I did already. He’s funny and intelligent and fearful and flawed and so much fun to write.

Thank you for reading.
